Why Merchant Center feed quality matters
Google states that incorrect, inaccurate or missing product information can cause disapprovals, limited eligibility or incorrect product displays. Product data is also used to help match products to relevant queries and optimise shopping experiences.
High-impact attributes to review
Start with ID stability, title, description, brand, GTIN or MPN where applicable, price, availability, product type, Google product category, variant attributes and image quality. The right priority depends on the catalogue and the issues Merchant Center is reporting.
Titles should describe the product accurately
Google allows product titles up to 150 characters and expects them to accurately describe the product and match the landing page. For variants, distinguishing attributes such as colour or size should be included where useful.
GTIN quality is not a box-ticking exercise
Google says to submit only valid GTINs and not to guess or make one up. If an identifier exists in a trusted supplier, manufacturer or product-information source, Feednetic can join and validate it before output.
Feednetic workflow for Google Shopping
Connect the source catalogue, map it to a canonical schema, apply shared product-data rules, then apply Google-specific logic at the output layer. The final feed can be graded separately so issues are visible before export.
